if this sounds familiar, you're in the right place.

✦ Feeling stuck between intense hurt, anger, and shame.

✦ Difficulty talking about the infidelity without things escalating or going in circles.

✦ Not knowing if you want to stay or leave, or how to make either one happen in a healthy way.

New paths are created by facing hard truths and making intentional choices.

How we can help

Psychodynamic couples therapy helps partners understand how past experiences, attachment histories, and deeply held beliefs influence the way they relate to themselves and one another. By bringing these patterns into awareness, couples can develop greater understanding, strengthen emotional connection, and create more intentional ways of relating.

Sessions are thoughtfully tailored to the unique needs of each relationship, honoring both partners' histories and shared goals for therapy. Respecting each person as the expert on their own experience, we bring clinical knowledge to help couples cultivate greater compassion, improve communication, and build healthier, more secure relationships that support lasting growth and connection.

faqs about couples therapy after infidelity

Infidelity, or "cheating", is when someone breaks the agreed-upon boundaries of their relationship, in a way that involves secrecy or betrayal of trust. Every couple defines this differently, but it usually involves emotional, physical, or sexual behavior that goes against what the partners agreed was okay.

This can only be defined by the partners within the relationship. Common definitions that we see in our work with couples include:

  • Having a sexual relationship with someone outside the partnership
  • Kissing or physical intimacy with someone else
  • Developing a secret emotional relationship or emotional “bond” with someone else
  • Sharing intimate thoughts, feelings, or relationship problems with someone else in a way that replaces your partner
  • Sexting or sending sexual messages or photos
  • Using dating apps while in a committed relationship
  • Maintaining an ongoing flirtatious or romantic online relationship
  • Hiding communication or interactions with someone that would feel hurtful if your partner knew

Yes, and it's quite common for couples to be unsure about what they want to see happen in the relationship. Healing comes in many forms, and successful couples therapy doesn't always look like the couple staying together. Sometimes it looks like both partners going their own separate ways, and figuring out how to do this in the healthiest way possible is important - especially when there are children involved.

Both partners should feel they not only understand their partners better, but also themselves. Through this understanding, and by facing hard truths, each partner will begin to gain clarity about patterns they want to change, and how they want to move forward. Whether that's staying together or going separate ways - you will know couples therapy is working when you step outside the void of uncertainty regarding the relationship.

Fees for couples therapy range between $150 - $250 per session, based on our Private Pay Flexible Fee Model.

You can book your first session online through our HIPAA-compliant scheduling platform.
